Trying to capture that youthful glow or sunkissed cheeks? These solid and cream rouges are perfect for adding the cherry on top of your historical visage.

Choose from the following:

"A tinted lip salve" (1772) from the Toilet de Flora. This recipe is a slightly sheer and glossy. The color appears to be a rich red, but has a subtle application. **

"Rose Balm"  (1772) A great tinted balm recipe with a few additions present in another rouge, this is a great way to moisturize and color the lips at the same time. The color is a gorgeous rosy-berry color. Slightly sheer, but can be layered for a more intense color. *

"Turkish Rouge"  (1810) This is solid rouge derived from the early 19th century formula of a liquid version . The color is a rich blood red that can be easily layered. According to the author it "...is a beautiful and inoffensive rouge…" meaning it was not overly bright but natural looking for the wearer. Also available as a liquid rouge here. *

"Red Rouge Pomatum" (1811) A great true red rouge with a touch of glossiness. This is a great option for anyone needing a great vintage red for 19th century to modern times. Highly pigmented; use with a lip brush as it can stain fingers. Exact recipe with one substitution. **

"Rouge La Fleur de la Jeunesse"  Amber's favorite. This is a historical recipe for rouge, but the color has been formulated by LBCC to match portraits from the 18th century after many requests for a less intense/red rouge. Great to layer and stays put. *
